BEST OF THE REST
Britt Ekland attempts the Odissi dance
THE REAL MARIGOLD HOTEL
BBC1, 9PM
AS this colourful OAP tour of India continues, one of the most surprising elements is realising how old everyone is. How on earth is John ‘Nasty Nick’ Altman 68 years old?
Entrepreneur Duncan Bannatyne is 71, while Bond star Britt Ekland, still unbelievably glam, is 77.
Britt seems to have developed a soft spot for Duncan as the eight senior citizens continue their exploration of Indian culture.
“I like a vain man,” she says as the pair prepare to go and have their fortunes told.
Meanwhile, cricket commentator Henry Blofeld and Chuckle Brother Paul Elliott try out a yoga therapy session, which has a surprising outcome for Henry.
And there’s a sleeper train journey that is a shock for Britt, who is used to her creature comforts, not bunking down in economy.
A festival lifts her spirits though as she is adorned with glittering accessories. “I love it!” she says. “You know how shallow I am!”
CHARLIE BROOKER’S ANTIVIRAL WIPE
BBC2, 9PM
“PLEASE excuse the cardboard desk,” Tweets Charlie Brooker. From the looks of his social media, he has hand-crafted an ‘Antiviral wipe’ sign and stuck it on to a cardboard box.
This is all in preparation for tonight’s one-off special that sees him “lured out of isolation to go into isolation”.
It’s the first time he will be on our screens since his Bafta Award-winning 2016 Wipe, with the aim of taking a look at life under lockdown.
As well as coverage of the crisis itself, he’ll also be exploring what we’ve been watching to while away the hours. And lord knows there has been plenty in the news for him to satire for our amusement.
Guest contributors joining him, from a safe distance, include the ever-insightful Philomena Cunk, played by Diane Morgan, and Barry Shitpeas, played by Al Campbell.
We’re told: “If nothing else it will give you something to do for half an hour.”
