Woman, 29 robbed while walking dog

THUG PUSHED VICTIM AGAINST WALL BEFORE ROBBING HER MOBILE PHONE

A WOMAN was pushed against a wall and robbed while out walking her dog.

The 29-year-old was walking close to the old railway line on Cranbourne Road, in Ashton-under-Lyne, when the man pushed her up against a wall.

He threatened the victim before robbing her.

The man fled on foot with her mobile phone towards the Wilshaw Lane area. Her phone has since been recovered.

The woman suffered minor injuries, but has been left shaken by the incident.

Greater Manchester Police are appealing for anyone with more informatio­n to come forward.

The man had an Eastern European accent and was in his late 30s. At the time he was wearing black tracksuit bottoms, a black hooded top with the hood up and scruffy black trainers.

Volume Crime Team on the Tameside division, said: “This was a violent unprovoked incident which took place in a secluded area and has left a woman feeling understand­ably frightened and distressed.

“I would like to reassure the public that we are treating this incident seriously and are following every line of enquiry available to us.

“This robbery happened in broad daylight and I am hopeful that there may be some witnesses who were in the area around this time.

“If you saw anything suspicious or have any informatio­n that could help with our investigat­ion, please contact police as soon as possible.”

Anyone who has any informatio­n about the robbery, which happened on Tuesday, May 12, at around 5.30pm, should call police on 0161 856 9350 quoting incident number 2371 of 12/05/20.
