UNITED will refund season ticket holders for the remaining Premier League home matches that are played behind closed doors.

The Reds have four more home fixtures against Sheffield United, Bournemouth, Southampton, and West Ham United, as well as their Europa League round-of-16 second leg against LASK Linz at Old Trafford.

United have not hosted a game since the derby on March 8.

The club sent an email to season ticket holders who have not renewed yesterday morning confirming they are ‘committed to refunding ticket costs’ for the remaining matches and urged supporters not to travel to any stadiums on matchdays if the 2019-20 domestic season restarts. The league is planning to resume the season next month behind closed doors.

United have assured supporters they will reduce the cost of their 2020-21 season ticket - if they renew but did not specify the price.

In a letter sent to season ticket holders by the ticket office, United said: “While the Premier League and other football authorities have yet to finalise the arrangements to resume season 2019/20, following the publication of the UK government’s recovery strategy on May 11, it is now widely accepted that any matches that may take place will only do so behind closed doors.

“We share your disappointment that you will not be able to watch United in person from within the stadium, but we would encourage you to give your continued loyal support from the comfort and safety of your home.

“We are committed to refunding ticket costs for these games and want to make the process as easy as

possible for all supporters. As you have not yet renewed your season ticket for the 2020/21 season, we will reduce the cost of your 2020/21 season ticket by the value of the four games missed.

“Please note, Uefa have not yet advised whether or not our home game against LASK in the Europa League will still go ahead.

“However, if you have purchased a ticket for this game and the game is cancelled or played behind closed doors, we will automatically refund the card used to pay for your match ticket(s).

“We are yet to receive confirmation regarding when the 2020/21 season will commence. Once there is more certainty around next season’s fixture schedule, we will be back in touch to provide further information and confirm the Season Ticket renewal deadline.”
