POPULAR TATTON PARK’S FARM REOPENS WITH ATTRACTIONS THAT ARE BOUND TO DELIGHT THE CHILDREN, WRITES EMMA GILL
TATTON Park’s Farm has reopened to visitors and there’s a special treat for children.
The popular attraction is giving away free chocolate to youngsters as a welcome back gift.
The chocolate was supposed to be part of the park’s Easter weekend activities, which were cancelled due to lockdown.
But now it’s planning to use them to make summer visits a little sweeter.
Bags of chocolates will be given to customers at The Stables Restaurant and visitors at the Gardens, Farm and Mansion, for as long as stocks last.
There are lots of new arrivals for families to see as, since March 21, the farm has welcomed no fewer than 38 lambs, one pedigree Jersey calf, 18 piglets and numerous chicks.
“It’s been strange not sharing Easter and lambing season with visitors this year, but the animals have kept us busy” said farm manager Jayne Chapman.
“And there are more new arrivals on the way.
“Summer is a great time to visit the farm as Molly, our very rare Middle White pig, is expecting a litter of pure bred piglets on July 17.
“We also have 10 Red Poll cows starting to calve any day, so visitors have plenty of new arrivals to see.
“Staff can’t wait to welcome people back to the farm and I think even the donkeys will be braying with excitement.”
A number of changes have been made to keep customers and staff safe.
Visitors need to book online in advance where they can pre-book a timeslot, as guests have already being doing for the gardens.
One-way systems are also in place and new signs and hand sanitiser
stations have been installed.
Following the farm’s opening on July 8, Tatton Park’s Mansion will also reopen on July 15.
Carolyn Latham, mansion and collections manager, said: “The last time visitors walked through our doors it was decorated for Christmas, so to finally open on 15 July is just wonderful.
“A carefully-planned and marked route will take visitors around the mansion, including state rooms and servants quarters, as well as our new exhibitions for 2020, which we’re so pleased to finally share with people.”
The farm is open Tuesday to Thursday from 11am to 4pm, last entry 3pm.
Tickets cost £8 for adults, £6 for children or £21 for a family of two adults and up to three children.
Carers and children under four go free.
