Back to the movies
A TRIP to the cinema was always a good time filler and took us out of the house for a few hours.
But for the past three and a half months, living rooms have had to become the only place to watch a film due to the coronavirus pandemic in the UK.
However, movie-lovers can now go back to watching films on the big screen as cinemas continue to reopen in England as part of a series of measures to ease lockdown restrictions.
Showcase, Odeon and Everyman began reopening some of their venues from July 4 but Cineworld and Vue have delayed their reopening until July 31.
The experience may be a bit different from what you are used to as there will be various safety measures in place.
Guidelines published by the UK Cinema Association, with backing from the government, include socially distanced seating, staggered start and finish times and no pick ‘n’ mix stands.
That aside though, what films will you actually be able to see?
Cinemas are expected to show films that were available to watch before lockdown as well as classic movies.
They will get to choose from a collection of 450 films which have been put together in the Relaunching Cinema: Content for Recovery plan.
Classics include the Harry Potter franchise and the Twilight saga as well as an extended run for Parasite, Onward, Military Wives and Once Upon A Time In... Hollywood.
But what else will you be able to watch from today?
Here’s a run down of some of the releases expected.
