Pictured: Man police want to speak to after ‘vicious’ bottle attack

POLICE have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to after a ‘vicious’ bottle attack.

Four men attacked the 24-year-old victim with a glass bottle on Stockport Road between Attwood Street and East Road Junction.

The victim – who was an innocent member of the public – was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his head and leg. He required surgery following the assault, police said. After being discharged from hospital, he required further surgery following a medical episode which was linked to the injuries he had sustained as a result of the attack.

Two arrests have been made following the incident which took place shortly after 11pm on Monday, June 22.

A 17-year-old boy and 21-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. They have both have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police have now released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

Det Sgt Natalie Mcdonald, of GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: “I am appealing for anyone who may recognise the man in the CCTV footage to please contact police so we can speak to him in connection with this crime.

“Further, if you witnessed the assault and have any dash cam footage, please get in touch as this informatio­n could prove vital in helping us to complete our inquiries.”
