‘He grabbed my mouth and tried to drag me into bushes’

MUM WALKING WITH BABY IN PRAM TELLS OF TERRIFYING ATTACK

- By PAIGE OLDFIELD

A YOUNG mum has described the horrifying moment a man tried to drag her into bushes.

The 21-year-old was with her six-month-old baby in a secluded area of Little Hulton, Salford, when the incident took place.

She was walking along the ‘Bankings’ behind Hilton Lane Primary School at around 5.50pm last Friday when she felt a hand over her mouth.

A man grabbed her from behind and started pulling her away from her son.

The pram was knocked over with the baby still inside as she desperately fought to escape.

The attacker, described as wearing a maroon T-shirt and grey jogging bottoms, then tried forcing her into bushes. She bit him on the hand as he held it over her mouth.

He recoiled in pain, giving the mum enough time to pick up the pram and run home to safety.

She said: “I was walking home from meeting my child’s father and someone approached me from my back. I didn’t realise they were coming towards me.

“They grabbed me by the mouth and dragged me back. My hands fell onto the handlebars and my son was in the pram and they tried dragging me into the bushes. I bit him and he said ‘you f***ing b **** .’ Then he reached in his pockets.

“He let go and I picked the pram up and went straight home and rang the police. I felt scared for my son; I was just really angry. When the pram tipped over, I was nervous about the fact he might have banged his head.

“I’ve walked through there so many times but have always been told it’s creepy. It was broad daylight.

“I just feel anxious about going anywhere now – if they could do that to someone while they were with a baby, what else can they do?”

A spokesman for GMP said: “The man – described as white, approximately 5ft 6ins tall, in his 30s, with a bald head, clean shaven and of stocky build – fled the scene.

“He spoke with an Irish accent and was wearing a maroon T-shirt with grey joggers.

“Officers are supporting the woman and inquiries are ongoing. No arrests have currently been made.”
