UNITED have made contact with the agent of Lille star Gabriel Magalhaes over a summer switch to Old Trafford, according to reports.

The 22-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea and Everton during the January transfer window after impressing in Ligue 1.

United continue to be linked with defenders and Gabriel is the latest name to be linked with a move to the Premier League.

RMC Sport claims United have taken the first steps in completing a deal and have already been in contact with the Brazilian’s representatives.

The report adds no concrete offers have been made for the youngster, who is also wanted by the likes of Napoli and Paris Saint- Germain.

M.E.N. Sport understands United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is happy with his options in defence and is not prioritising strengthening his back four in the current transfer window.

Elsewhere, reports in Spain suggest Ligue 2 side Caen are interested in signing United’s academy midfielder Aliou Traore.

Traore, 19, joined United from PSG in the summer of 2017 and was a regular in the development teams this season.

However, Mundo Deportivo report Caen are attempting to lure the youngster back to France this summer with his route to the United first-team blocked by the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic.

The report does not make clear whether the French side are willing to accept a loan deal or want his signature permanently.
