■ LONDON: Tech-savvy Yotel opens its first central London property this month. The Clerkenwell hotel has 212 cabins with signature features such as the spacesaving adjustable SmartBed with gel cooled mattress, rainfall showers, smart TVs, multiple power and USB charging ports, and free super-fast wi-fi.
Stays are driven by technology with the use of apps for self-service check-in and low touch cabin entry. The focal point of the hotel is Komyuniti, an all-day restaurant and bar serving up street food-inspired bar snacks, locally brewed craft beer and speciality cocktails.

■ SWEDEN: Ibiza doesn’t have the monopoly on cool beach clubs – there’s a new kid on the block in Sweden.
More Green Island than White Island, the 60s/70s-themed Ellery Beach House is on the tip of leafy Lidingo, in the inner Stockholm archipelago and less than half an-hour by road from the city centre.
It opens on September 1 and will have 122 rooms, a private jetty and access to the area’s nature, sea and beaches. The Coco Beach Club is billed as the ‘’hottest spot north of Stockholm’’ with a sauna, sun loungers, music, food and drink – all with a Palm Springs California desert vibe.
