Students in limbo after results delay
HUNDREDS of students were still waiting for their exam results yesterday – 24 hours after they were due to be released .
Students waiting for BTEC Level 3 at Manchester College in Openshaw had not still received their grades by yesterday morning.
Manchester College say the delay was due to a technical issue being experienced by the exam board.
And although the college said the majority had received their results by yesterday afternoon, a few were still left in limbo and advised they would need to wait until Monday.
Some students say the wait has left them fearful that they have missed out on vital opportunities to contact the university clearing system.
Sam Mills, 19, from Swinton, has been waiting for his result for his BTEC level three diploma in music technology which is the equivalent of three A-Levels.
He has received a conditional offer from Manchester Metropolitan University on the basis he is awarded one distinction and two merits.
“I was supposed to get my results from around 8am on Thursday,” he told the M.E.N.
“I started to get concerned at about 9am and went on UCAS and they didn’t have anything so I started panicking.
“I tweeted the college at 11am and they acknowledged it and said there was a technical issue and that they were working to resolve it.
“I was told to email the exam office and they told me all they knew was that it was a technical issue.”
A statement on the college website said: “We apologise for the delays.
“We are now starting to receive Level 3 BTEC results from this awarding organisation and are sending them to students as they come through.”
