Bernardo hits back at ‘pathetic’ Anfield fans on Twitter

- By MARCUS BANKS

BERNARDO Silva has slammed ‘pathetic’ Liverpool fans after his social media account was targeted following City’s exit from the Champions League.

Anfield fans were far from pleased with the Blues midfielder during their Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium last month following their capture of the league title.

Pep Guardiola and his men confirmed they would perform a guard of honour for the new champions but Liverpool fans were not impressed as Bernardo showed little enthusiasm during the gesture of respect.

The Portuguese was an unused substitute in City’s defeat by Lyon that saw them exit the Champions League at the quarter-final stage.

Footage of Bernardo celebrating his birthday with the squad surfaced on social media and the playmaker said the ideal present would be lifting the Champions League.

Therefore, Liverpool fans bombarded his social media page when City’s exit was confirmed.

Now, Bernardo has hit back at the online trolls.

“The 2019/2020 season has ended for us in a very disappointing way,” he wrote on Twitter. “To all the fans, we’re sorry for this frustrating season. The only thing we can promise is that in 2020/2021 we’ll fight a lot to do much better and get back to winning important things for you guy.

“And to all Liverpool fans that have nothing else to do than to come to a Man City player account, I’m also sorry for you but for the wrong reasons pathetic.

“Go celebrate your titles, or try to find a partner, drink a beer with a friend, read a book. So many options!”
