“He was in quite a bad way,” explained Ms Lineker, 21. “There was blood spraying from his head.”

Without a second thought, Ms Gee used her hand to try and stem the flow of blood.

She described the teenager’s injuries as ‘like something out of a horror movie’.

“The bleed was right across his forehead,” she added. “He had no helmet on.

“We could not see his face because of the amount of blood spraying from his head.

“All my glasses and clothes were covered in it.

“Another neighbour brought a towel so we could stop the bleeding.

“It was touch-and-go.

“He came round and told us his name. We were trying to calm him down.”

Connor’s dad, Darren, said he could not thank the pair enough for saving his son’s life.

He told the Manchester Evening News: “To us, they are angels. If they had not stemmed the blood, he would not have made it.

“He is alive and that is what matters.”

Connor, who lives in Bradford, was staying at his brother’s home in Whitefield on the evening of the crash.

He decided to nip to Tesco late on Tuesday evening and took his brother’s bike.

He used what he believed was a shortcut down Hardman’s Road but, as he was unfamiliar with the area, he was unaware that it was a one-way street.

After colliding with an oncoming Audi A5, the teenager was thrown from his bike.

The Audi stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made.
