‘Our time together, although too short, was the best time of my life’

TRIBUTES have been paid to a ‘beautiful’ and ‘kind-hearted’ man following his death, aged 23.

An inquest has opened into the death of Jack Kelly after he was found dead at his flat in Elmira Way, Ordsall, Salford, on September 14.

Paying tribute to him, Jack’s boyfriend Jamie Docherty said: “Jack was a beautiful person, he was cheeky, a bit of a rule breaker, generous and kind-hearted. He also loved being centre of attention.

“Jack lit up the lives of so many people. He leaves behind his beautiful family and friends, who adored him and that he loved dearly, especially his nan Yvonne, his mum Alison and his best friends Reece and Will.

“He was the most beautiful person I have ever seen and although too short, our time together was the best time of my life.”

Bolton Coroner’s Court heard Jack was born in Plymouth but lived in Salford and worked as a sales manager.

Assistant coroner for Manchester

West Stephen Teasdale confirmed that the preliminary cause of death has been recorded as “asphyxia”, with the underlying cause of “hanging”.

Mr Teasdale adjourned the inquest with a view to fixing a date for a full hearing.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up, with the aim of raising enough money to buy a ‘permanent memorial to celebrate Jack’s life’.

On the page, Jamie wrote: “As I’m sure you’re all aware, we lost our beloved Jack Kelly this week. As

Jack was originally from Plymouth, Manchester won’t be his final resting place.

“Jack had a community of people in Manchester who loved him and it seems only fitting that he will have a place that everyone can visit and remember all the good times Jack had here.

“I’ve set up this GoFundMe in order to raise money for a permanent memorial to celebrate Jack’s life. Anything exceeding the cost of the memorial will go towards helping his family in any way it can.”
