Woman ‘unable to smile’ after savage beating

THUG’S BRUTAL ATTACK LEFT EX WITH MULTIPLE FRACTURES TO HER JAW

- By ANDREW BARDSLEY

A MUM has been left unable to smile after being subjected to a ‘savage’ and ‘brutal’ attack in her own home by her ex-partner.

She was left in a pool of blood and barely conscious after being repeatedly punched to the face by alcohol and crack cocaine-fulled Christopher Troy.

Troy, 33, from Tameside, kicked her to the head after landing repeated blows, in what a judge described as a ‘final and insulting blow’.

He later told his mother he thought he’d killed her, and was initially accused of attempted murder.

Manchester Crown Court was told she can only open her mouth to three centimetres, can only eat liquidised food and her face has been left ‘expressionless’.

“My children ask me why I don’t smile, which makes me sad,” the woman said.

She had held a small party in her garden for her friend’s birthday in June when Troy walked past.

Troy, who was not supposed to contact her after a non-molestation order had been imposed, then texted the woman calling her a ‘slag’.

He turned up again later and fearing it would cause a scene if she refused, she allowed Troy to remain.

Others left the party and Troy remained, going into her home with his ex and her friend.

Troy then said he was going to bed, but his friend persuaded him to leave.

His ex had called the police, fearing something might happen.

Troy grabbed the phone and began attacking her.

Her friend heard shouting and saw Troy trying to drag her out of the front door by her leg, prosecutor Andy Evans said. She was able to get back inside, but Troy then began repeatedly punching her to the head and face. As she lay apparently unconscious, Troy continued to punch her then kicked her to the head.

Troy left her on the floor in a pool of blood, struggling to breath.

She spent a week in intensive care, after suffering multiple fractures to her jaw, cheekbone and eye socket requiring metal plates and pins.

In a statement read in court, she said she had been left ‘totally expressionless’ because she can’t move her face. The judge, Recorder Sarah Johnston, said: “You embarked upon a savage and brutal attack. Your commitment to this assault was unwavering.”

Troy pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He was declared a ‘ dangerous’ offender and received an extended sentence, comprising of eight years in jail and a further four years on licence.

Troy, of Hyde, Tameside, also had a restraining order imposed, to last indefinitely.
