MORRISONS Foundation has donated £ 5,000 to the fund, having secured the rights to use the Bee and We Love MCR logo, which is licensed to the city council.

These donations can be life changing. The Big Change MCR fund can help to break the cycle of rough sleeping that many people find themselves in.

The money is targeted to help with the practical things that people need to make long-term changes to turn their lives around, whether it is funding deposits or helping to furnish a home, travel or employment training.

During Covid 19 the fund has also been helping those isolating in hotels and

B& Bs with emergency supplies, including clothing, toiletries and books.

Tommy O’Donnell, chair of Big Change MCR said: “This is fantastic news. And to receive this sizeable business donation is very welcome indeed. We are very grateful to the Morrison Foundation for their donation, it will transform the lives of so many people. A big thank you from me and all the people that I know it’s going to help. I know from my own personal experience how a small donation can make a big difference.”

David Scott, Morrisons Foundation Trustee said, “Morrisons is committed to helping the most vulnerable in our society. We know that the coronavirus outbreak presents a particular risk to homeless people and I’m delighted that the Morrisons Foundation has been able to help fund Big Change MCR’s vital work in the community during these challenging times.”

Councillor Luthfur Rahman OBE, Manchester City Council’s lead member for homelessness said: “In the current economic climate, more people than ever need a safety net to prevent them falling into a cycle of homelessness and rough sleeping. We know that during these uncertain times everyone is thinking carefully about their finances so we are very grateful that so many are still giving to those less fortunate than themselves. I would urge the business community and the public to continue donating to Big Change MCR, their generosity in helping those less fortunate is much appreciated and makes a real and lasting difference.”
