Support for family after dad’s death
FRIENDS AND RELATIVES HELP OUT AFTER POPULAR 45-YEAR-OLD DIES
CARING friends and relatives have stepped up to help the family of a popular dad from Leigh who died tragically young.
Mike Fearn was just 45 when he passed away on Sunday, November 28, following a serious heart condition and problems with pneumonia.
He leaves behind his long term partner Francesca Makin and their tenyear-old daughter Holly.
Mike was a hugely popular figure with a large circle of friends and, following his death, people who knew him began to donate to a campaign which has now raised nearly £4,000 to support his bereaved family.
More than 140 people have donated to the fundraiser and many have left messages with heartfelt tributes and stories about the former BUPA worker.
Francesca, Mike’s partner, said he was a ‘happy and bubbly’ man who loved to do stand up comedy and make people laugh.
“He was larger than life,” she said.
“He was a huge character. He was very straightforward and down the line, he wanted to help people, as many people as he could.
“People have been sending these lovely messages, flowers and things for my daughter. It’s overwhelming to actually see and realise how popular he was.”
Mike was originally from Lowton but lived in Leigh with Francesca and their daughter. He had been suffering from lung problems after a bout of pneumonia two years ago but never let his health problems stop him, his longterm friend Sanchia Gallagher said.
“He was so funny and witty and such a kind guy,” she explained.
“Over the years he’s got such a massive group of friends. I worked with him and we had crazy times, he was so genuine”.
