Alty in third win on bounce

- By LUKE WALLWORTH

ALTRINCHAM recorded their third straight win in the National League on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Dagenham & Redbridge.

A goal from Jake Moult in the latter stages of the first half was enough for the Robins as they pulled off their second 1-0 away win in just under two weeks.

The Robins struggled for possession early on but eventually found their feet, Matty Kosylo with the first big chance but he pulled a shot wide after receiving a neat Yusifu Ceesay pass.

It was Kosylo who assisted the only goal of the game from a free kick outside the left side of the box, that Jake Moult was able to get on the end of to give Alty the lead in the 39th minute.

Dagenham almost equalised early in the second half, but substitute Angelo Balanta could only hit the post.

Just before the hour mark, new signing Ryan Colclough was stretchered off with a suspected broken leg following a dangerous challenge from Dagenham’s Abu Ogogo.

Kosylo had a great chance to find the net again towards the end of the game but could only find the side netting.

Elsewhere, Curzon Ashton’s winless run extended to five games as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Gloucester City on Saturday in the National League North. A goal in the second half from top-of-the-table Gloucester decided the fixture as the Nash slumped to 18 th in the table.

It was Gloucester who found the net in the 52nd minute, Kevin Dawson picking the ball up to the left, taking on Dan Cowan and slotting the ball under Cameron Mason – the game’s only goal.
