Greenwood reveals impact Cavani is having at Old Trafford
MASON Greenwood admits he has been watching Edinson Cavani closely in United training and believes he’s benefitting from working with the veteran striker.
United completed a deadline day swoop for former Paris SaintGermain striker Cavani in the summer, signing him on a free transfer to boost Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attacking options.
The 33-year-old has already scored vital goals for United against Southampton and according to Greenwood – 14 years his junior – the Uruguayan is helping behind the scenes too.
“Anyone can learn from him, whether it is a young player or an older player,” Greenwood told United’s official website. “He has just come here and set an example, really. I like the things he does so I obviously pick up on the little things he does.
“I watch him in training and always have an eye on him to see what movements he does, so I can add it to my game. So it is a big benefit that he is here at the club I think.
“You can see the two goals he scored against Southampton were just unbelievable. It was stuff he has been doing for 10 to 15 years at PSG and at Napoli as well, so he is a good footballer.”
“It is all about improvement,” said Greenwood, who is keen to better himself and build on an excellent first full season in the United first team when he netted 17 senior goals.
“You have always got to come up with new things because teams will start watching you, like we do with video analysis and stuff like that, so you have always got to have a few tricks up your sleeve.”
