Danny adds to new arrivals as Red Devils rebuild goes on

SCOTLAND international Danny Addy was convinced to join Salford because he believes the club is ready to kick onto the next level.

The Red Devils have been on the wrong side of the result in both a Grand Final and Challenge Cup final in the past two seasons and are now looking to take the next step to lifting silverware.

Despite the departure of coach Ian Watson to Huddersfield, there is optimism around the AJ Bell Stadium. Danny Orr has arrived to assist new head coach Richard Marshall, while Joe Burgess, Harvey Livett and Morgan Escare will be among the new faces pulling on the Red Devils jersey in 2021.

Addy is the latest arrival and is certain he’s joined a team moving in the right direction.

“I’m really excited to join a club that is on the up,” the 29-year-old to told Red Devils TV. ““When we spoke, I li liked a lot of what t the club was about a and where they wanted to go - and I wanted to be a part of that.

“I’ve had quite a b bit of experience now and it will be good to mingle with all the new faces and just get stuck in right away.

“I knew quite a few of the lads who were here before I came, so I’m excited to see them again and meet all the new people.”

Addy was initially recruited on the basis he would be working under Watson, but since the former boss departed the club, Marshall has arrived and the change has done nothing to dampen the new arrival’s enthusiasm.

“Obviously, he’s new to the club as well, the same as me,” said Addy. “So I want to get to know him, the same as getting to know everybody.

“He’s a good coach and I’ve played against his teams a few times over the last few years. I feel really excited to be working with him.”

A consistent performer with experience of representing his country in two World Cups, Addy was named captain of Leigh Centurions for 2020. The combination of experience, leadership and versatility that he brings will be a valuable asset to the Red Devils in 2021.

“I want to be as consistent as I can, play as many games as I can and just do my very best for the club,” he said.

“I want to be a part of something special.”
