Cyclist, 20, fights for her life after bus smash
A CYCLIST was in a critical condition after a collision involving a bus in south Manchester.
The 20-year-old woman was rushed to hospital following the crash on Wilmslow Road in Rusholme.
Police said they were first called to reports of a collision between a cyclist and a bus at 4.25pm on Monday.
Emergency services attended and enquiries established both the bus and the cyclist were travelling northbound along Wilmslow Road when they were involved in collision at the junction with Moss Lane East, Greater Manchester Police said in a statement.
The cyclist was taken to hospital and her injuries were believed to be life threatening, they said.
The road was closed for several hours whilst police dealt with the aftermath and carried out enquiries.
No arrests have been made and enquiries remain ongoing, GMP added.
Officers are appealing for anyone who have been around the area at the time and witnessed it or have dashcam footage, to come forward and help police with their enquiries.
Pc Karl Horner, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A woman was left with serious injuries following this awful incident and our thoughts are very much with her as she receives the treatment she needs in hospital.
“Our enquiries are ongoing as we try to ascertain all the facts surrounding the incident and we want to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time or witnessed the incident to come forward and speak with police.
“We’re particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage.”
