Wanderers close in on loan deal

-

BOLTON Wanderers are close to agreeing a loan deal for an unnamed player who is poised to be announced next month, Ian Evatt has confirmed.

The transfer window opens tomorrow and Wanderers are likely to be active in the market.

Both incomings and outgoings are expected at the University of Bolton Stadium over the course of January as Evatt reshapes his squad for the second half of the season.

The Wanderers boss has previously said that he feels the squad is three to four players light.

And work has been taking place to ensure new arrivals come into the squad. An experienced midfielder believed to be former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Kieran Lee. left, has been training at the club’s Lostock training ground and talks are progressing regarding a deal for the 32-year-old.

There is also speculation that Swansea City defender Declan John is a loan target for the Trotters after falling out of favour at the Liberty Stadium.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s home clash against Crawley Town, Wanderers manager Evatt has confirmed that he believes a loan deal for a player is close to being finalised after an agreement was reached.

He also expects that transfer business will start to happen quickly once the window opens both in terms of ingoings and outgoings.

He said: “We think we’ve agreed a loan deal for somebody but that won’t be announced until early January, but I think apart from crossing the is and dotting the ts, that’s almost there.

“There will be ingoings and outgoings, it’s as simple as that, but nothing to confirm just yet.

“Pretty soon I would think. I would think as soon as the window opens we’ll be looking to make hay while the sun shines and get people in the door and people going out the other way. It’s just the nature of the beast.”
