HE was nicknamed ‘Freaky Dancer’ on the Madchester music scene in the late 80s and early 90s – and now Bez from the Happy Mondays is about to show us his moves during lockdown.

Bez, real name Mark Berry, will be getting his step on every week for three months from next Sunday.

And he looks set to rival fitness guru Joe Wicks with his online YouTube classes Get Buzzin’ With Bez.

Bez, 56, said: “I’d like to think I’m somewhere between Joe Wicks and Mr Motivator.

“Normally I’ve been burning lots of calories by dancing, going to shows and generally being active.

“But since we went into the first lockdown I’ve mainly sat on the sofa.”

Bez was dismayed to notice that the ‘special pants’ he wears at Christmas didn’t fit for the first time this year.

However the maraca-waving dancer says he’s not sure he’s ready for Lycra.

In the classes Bez will be the one being trained rather than be the instructor.

Bez, a bee keeper and beer brewer in his spare time, won Celebrity Big Brother in 2005 and stood as a candidate for the Salford and Eccles constituency in the 2015 UK General Election.

Most recently he appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox with Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder.

The Body Coach Joe Wicks has been a star of lockdown after setting up online PE lessons for kids out of school giving them and their family a chance to get active during the week.

Joe announced that he will be restarting his PE with Joe series from today.

He’ll host the workouts from The Body Coach TV on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and added he’s ‘sorry I can’t commit to all five days’ as before.

He added: “I’m hoping that three days are going to help young children and families get through this difficult time when schools are closed, bring some energy, and change their mood.”
