Doorstep crooks target man, 83

CONMEN stole more than £2,000 from a pensioner after tricking their way into his Oldham home.

The three men told the 83-year-old there had a been a flood next door, before going upstairs and stealing a wallet containing the cash.

Police say the thieves are white and spoke with Irish accents. The theft took place at a house in South Chadderton at 6.30pm on Thursday.

Facebook page said: “The Neighbourh­ood Teams in Oldham were appalled to read this incident on our morning briefing and wanted to make you all aware. Unfortunat­ely, these unscrupulo­us individual­s may appear convincing and can be very persuasive.

“If you are in any doubt, please keep them out.”

Anyone with informatio­n is asked to call police on 101.
