Klopp’s full of praise for United boss and board

- By MARCUS BANKS

JURGEN Klopp has heaped praise on United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the club’s board for sticking with the Norwegian.

Solskjaer came under scrutiny following United’s slow start to the season but the board have been rewarded for keeping faith in him.

The Reds enter today’s clash against Liverpool at the top of the

Premier League table, three points ahead of the champions.

Klopp is one of the longest serving managers in the Premier League having been given the time to mould Liverpool into a title-winning team.

The German believes Solskjaer has repaid the board’s faith and claims he has not been surprised by United’s rapid progress this season.

“Clearly, given the passionate rivalry between our two great clubs it would be pushing to say I’m delighted to see Man United doing so well this campaign,” he wrote in the official Liverpool programme. “But I can say I am pleased for Ole specifically.

“Such a good guy and a very good coach and leader. It is not difficult to see how much the club means to him when he speaks about it. In Ole, United have a person who has the best interests of the organisation running through him, from head to toes. As I say, as Liverpool manager I can’t be jumping with joy to see them strong, but I can say I am not surprised. It was entirely expected from my perspective.

“They have given Ole superb backing on and off the pitch and are now reaping the benefits. Big investment into the team and the squad while allowing a manager and his staff time to develop methods.”
