Maguire hails second-half display and rues misses
HARRY Maguire revealed United’s players were disappointed by their passing and lack of rhythm in the first half against Liverpool.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side showed a much better side to their game after the break, finding space behind Liverpool’s defence.
And although they were unable to convert their chances, Maguire says United’s half-time team talk prompted the improvement.
“I think they started the game better than us, then second half we came into the game a lot more,” said the Reds captain.
“We were a lot braver on the ball, we created the best two chances in the game and on another day, we win the game.
“It was cagey but it was two good teams matching up.
“We found it difficult in the first half to get a rhythm to the game.
“We knew the press was going to be high, but we didn’t get the rhythm with the ball.
“We spoke about it at half-time; we were disappointed in our performance.
“The second half I felt was a lot better. We created openings and like I say, we had two great chances — and two great saves.”
Maguire believes United showed the right intent in the second half at Anfield and felt they had enough chances to nick a victory.
He added: “We came to the game and we wanted to win, you could see our intent in the second half. We wanted to go on and get the three points.
“We’ll feel disappointed that we haven’t come away with the three points.
“But it’s a point, a tough place to come and we’ve got to move on now and get three points next week.”
