Pallistri: I wanted more time at Reds

- By LIAM WOOD

FACUNDO Pallistri regrets not having spent longer at United before being sent out on loan to Alaves in La Liga.

The 19-year-old, who arrived at Old Trafford from Uruguayan side CA Penarol for around £7.5m in October, has made two appearances for the Spanish side.

In the time between joining United and jetting off to Spain, Pallistri played for the Reds in Premier League 2 scoring twice in his first six appearances.

However, despite being faced with ‘rapid changes’ to his situation at Old Trafford, the winger is starting to feel the benefits of being exposed to top-level European football.

He said: “I am very happy despite the rapid changes, faster than I imagined. I was hoping to have a little more time in Manchester, but on the club’s side they have organised what to do with each player.”

■ DONNY van de Beek sent Timothy Fosu-Mensah a supportive message after the former United player suffered a serious knee injury.

The defender, who left the Reds to join Bayer Leverkusen in January, will miss the remainder of the campaign after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament.

His former team-mates at United were quick to send messages to the Dutchman, with Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay both wishing him well on social media.

And Van de Beek, who played with Fosu-Mensah in the Ajax academy, said on his Instagram story: “Stay strong brother, I always have your back! I wish you a quick recovery.”
