Neville blasts ‘sleepwalking’ United after boring draw

-

FORMER United captain Gary Neville believes the Reds are ‘sleepwalking’ into a top-four race after their ‘boring’ draw at Crystal Palace.

A day after rivals City made it 21 wins in a row to open up a 15-point gap at the top, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were left frustrated in a goalless draw with the Eagles and have now won only one of their last five Premier League matches.

Neville said: “They (United) looked lethargic and well off it, their body language looked really drained.

“I thought they would cement second place by picking up points at places like Crystal Palace. Now Liverpool and Chelsea will think they are in with a right chance.

“It wasn’t a good night for United. It doesn’t matter who’s in charge, you can’t be boring and that was boring.

“They are sleepwalking in games. They are going to end up in a top-four race if they are not careful.”

Neville also believes Solskjaer will soon have to make a decision about the long-term future of Dean Henderson.

Tottenham, Chelsea and West Ham United have expressed interest in the keeper, who played last night as David de Gea missed out through ‘personal reasons’.

“I always thought when I played for United that the number one spot would probably be the most scrutinised position in English football and Dean Henderson’s chances are coming more and more,” Neville said.

“You’d think in the next few months that the day of reckoning will come when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will decide whether he is the Manchester United number one of the future.”
