A WOMAN who was found dead at a house had been stabbed multiple times, police have said.

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the body, believed to be that of a 29-year-old woman, at a property on Ashton Road in Oldham.

Police have arrested two men, aged 41 and 35, on suspicion of murder.

They remained in custody waiting to be questioned.

Officers were called just after 12.15pm on Thursday to the Bardsley area of Oldham, to reports of a concern for the welfare of a woman.

Emergency services attended the address and a woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. GMP say formal identification has not yet taken place but the victim is believed to be a 29-yearold woman.

Her next of kin has been informed. A post-mortem is still due to take place but police said the woman had suffered a number of stab wounds.

They added that her death is being treated as an isolated incident.

A murder investigation is ongoing and a scene remains in place whilst detectives carry out their investigations.

Crime scene investigators could be seen moving in and out of the property on Friday morning.

A number of police vehicles have been stationed outside the house in question throughout the day today.

Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Chatterton, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This is a devastating incident and our priority is to do all that we can to fully establish the circumstances of the woman’s death and give her family some much needed answers.

“Although we have two men in custody, our enquiries are at a very early stage and we are keeping an open mind, however we do believe there is no wider threat to the public.

“Our dedicated team of officers will be working around the clock on this investigation and I would ask that anyone with any information that could assist does come forward.”
