UNITED RATED

- BY SAMUEL LUCKHURST

DEAN HENDERSON

Solid save from Zinchenko at 1-0 and his throw out to Luke Shaw set the wheels in motion for United’s second.

AARON WAN-BISSAKA

Dominated Sterling again and as the game developed the England winger looked less and less likely to pass Wan-Bissaka.

VICTOR LINDELOF

Has a habit of reserving his best against the elite and that was the case again. Read things impeccably well.

HARRY MAGUIRE

City’s lack of a quality No.9 showed with Maguire on the pitch. One of his best performances for United.

LUKE SHAW

Could have made it 2-0 inside five minutes but shot straight at Ederson. Made amends with a wonderful solo goal.

SCOTT McTOMINAY

Struggled to get any rhythm. His passing was poor and did not initially get close enough to City’s midfielders.

FRED

Full of beans but that was about it. Sloppy with the ball and did not exactly deny De Bruyne or Gundogan space.

BRUNO FERNANDES

Had the bottle to convert his 18th penalty for United despite the heckling from a City physio inside the first two minutes.

DANIEL JAMES

Barely had a kick and was selected more for his work off the ball than on it. Gave United an outlet.

MARCUS RASHFORD

Ran down blind alleys and got it wrong more often than he got it right. Somehow assisted Shaw but another poor display.

ANTHONY MARTIAL

Made an immediate impact to win the penalty inside a minute but squandered an easy chance to make it 3-0.

Pep Guardiola and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have been handed a huge boost with the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in South America being postponed

Both managers said they would not release players for the internationals at the end of the month if they had to quarantine for 10 days on their return.

“It doesn’t make sense to travel when we’re paying them if they have to come back and be away for ten days,” said United boss Solskjaer. “It is a chat we will have with the players.”

While Guardiola said on Friday his players wouldn’t fly if it meant they would have to quarantine.

And now CONMEBOL have reacted, saying: “The Council decided to suspend the double date of the qualifiers for Qatar 2022 scheduled for March. The decision is due to the impossibility of having all the South American players in a timely manner.

FIFA will analyse the rescheduling of the date, in coordination with CONMEBOL and the member associations.

“Soon, the different options for holding the matches will be studied.”

Under normal FIFA rules, clubs must release any players called up to represent their country in competitive fixtures arranged in the agreed international calendar.

In early February, though, the governing body extended an exemption rule introduced in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic - until the end of April - which would have allowed Premier League clubs to keep their players within the UK.

As thing stand in the UK, anyone returning from coronavirus ‘red list’ countries, which includes Portugal, all of South America and parts of Africa, is required to quarantine for 10 days, without exception.
