A MAN who drunkenly told airline staff to ‘f*** off’ after being refused more alcohol has been released from prison following an appeal.

Daniel Keigher, 32, was jailed for 18 weeks in December following a hearing at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.

The incident occurred back in September when Keigher, of Turner Bridge Road, Tonge Moor, Bolton, was flying back to Manchester Airport following a holiday in Poland.

At the original sentencing hearing, prosecutor Paul Sumner told the court that Keigher asked airline staff for a coffee and a brandy, but when he was only brought the coffee he became “aggressive” and shouted “f*** off” on at least two occasions.

Cabin crew on the Jet2 flight had decided to only serve customers one alcoholic drink each during the flight.

After asking for his passport in order to write a flight report, Keigher told cabin crew: “you’ll have to f ****** get it”.

Defending, Emma Hassall told the court that self-employed joiner Keigher was a father of one and had turned his life around following a number of convictions in his younger years.

She also said that he was expecting another child.

Keigher had been on the flight with his friend Daniel Naylor, 29, of Wasdale Avenue, Breightmet.

Both men were jailed and given a 12-month banning order by Jet2 after pleading guilty to being drunk on an aircraft.

Following an appeal hearing at Minshull Street Crown Court,

Keigher has been freed.

His sentence was changed to three months imprisonment, suspended for six months.

He will also have to complete the ‘Thinking Skills’ programme, a rehabilitation requirement and unpaid work.
