Man found with ‘paedophile manual’ is spared jail time

-

A PAEDOPHILE, who owned a book with instructions on how to abuse young girls, has been spared jail.

Yousaf Khurshid, 29, was also found with a disgusting haul of 33,487 indecent images of children, 796 prohibited images, and 14 extreme pornographic images.

Police discovered the sickening images on four of his devices after attending his family home in Turton Heights, Bromley Cross, on November 16, 2018.

Prosecution barrister Ian McMeekin told Bolton Crown Court that the book found in Khurshid’s possession was a ‘paedophile manual’, that went into detail on how to have sex with underage girls.

Defence barrister Richard Sharpe described Khurshid as a ‘computer nerd’ in the last year of studying for a degree, with hopes of a career in software. Mr Sharpe said: “He’s someone who’s historically lived quite a socially isolated life.”

Judge Graeme Smith gave Khurshid a 16-month sentence, suspended for two years. He added: “If you go to custody, it would only be for eight months, and due to the current restrictions there will be no opportunity for any meaningful work to be carried out with you.

“In my view, the best way to protect the public is for that work to be carried out, coupled with the other provisions that can only happen in the community.”

A 10-year sexual harm prevention order was imposed on Khurshid, along with a six-month curfew.

Khurshid was also ordered to complete 53 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
