TWO men were taken to hospital following a fight ‘involving a knife.’

Police and paramedics swarmed Buckhurst Road in Levenshulme at around 6.30pm on Sunday.

Officers say a woman and two men – one armed with a knife – had been involved in an altercation.

A man and one woman were arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault and another man was arrested on suspicion of obstructing police.

Two men were taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be lifethreatening.

A police cordon spanning part of Buckhurst Road and Osborne Road was in place until late last night. Witnesses described seeing forensics entering a property and an air ambulance land nearby.

A Buckhurst Road resident said they heard a ‘commotion’ before emergency services arrived.

He described the ‘violent’ scenes as ‘sad.’

The witness said: “I heard a bit of shouting and commotion going on.

“After that, I was concentrating on my kids not hearing or seeing anything. Then quite a lot of police and ambulances turned up. They put a cordon up, I think something quite violent happened. It’s just sad really.”

Another resident, who did not wish to give her name, said police were ‘swarming’ the area.

She said: “It was some kind of fighting. The cordon lifted at around 10pm. Whatever happened, it was over quickly. There were a lot of police, they were swarming.”

A man who lives next door to the property said police at the scene told him there had been a fight.

He said: “It was two people having a fight. I heard a noise from inside (the property) and the police knocked on my door.”
