TWO ARRESTS AS MAN, 41, DIES

DETECTIVES have launched a murder investigat­ion after a man was stabbed to death.

The victim, 41, died after being stabbed in a property on Liverpool Road in Eccles.

Police said they were called to reports of a ‘disturbanc­e’ at 11.10am yesterday.

Medics tried to save him but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men, both aged 34, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

They remain in custody for questionin­g.

Officers are still at the scene as the investigat­ion continues.

GMP said they believe it is an ‘isolated’ incident, and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Rick Thompson, of GMP’s Salford district, said: “Firstly, our thoughts are firmly with the family of the man who has sadly lost his life this morning. While our enquiries are in their initial stages, we currently have two men in custody and we believe this incident to be isolated with no immediate threat to the wider community.

“We do understand the concern and upset incidents such as this can cause for communitie­s and we want to reassure you we are working at pace to ensure we establish the full circumstan­ces.

“We would appeal to anyone who may have informatio­n surroundin­g his death, or witnessed anything in the area around the time that you think may be crucial to our investigat­ion to get in touch with police as a matter of urgency.” ● Anyone with informatio­n can contact police on 0161 856 3400, quoting log 992 of 12/04/21.
