Man fighting for life after ‘brutal’ double stabbing

-

POLICE are hunting for a 21-year-old who left a man fighting for his life after a double stabbing.

Officers were called to Ashford Walk in Chadderton, Oldham, at around 10.50am yesterday, following reports that two people had been stabbed.

A 34-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, were both taken to hospital – with the man still fighting for his life after being admitted in a critical condition.

The woman suffered facial injuries, and has been discharged.

Officers believe a 21-year-old man stabbed both people after an argument.

He ran from the scene, and police are trying to find him.

Detective Chief Inspector Wes Knights, of GMP’s Oldham CID, said: “Two people have been injured as a result of this attack, one of whom is currently in a critical condition undergoing surgery at hospital.

“I understand that an event such as this will cause concern in the local community, however I would like to reassure residents that we are doing all we can to establish the full circumstances behind these stabbings and trace the man responsible as quickly as we can.

“This behaviour was brutal, and will not be tolerated. If anyone has any information to help with our investigation please come forward and speak to police.”

A mum who lives close to the area cordoned off said: “It’s a nice, peaceful area, it’s quiet. It’s a shock really.” She’s lived there for around six years and has never seen a cordon like this in the area.
