‘Monster deserves everything he gets’

BRAVE WOMAN’S WORDS TO PERVERT WHO ABUSED HER

- By ANDREW BARDSLEY

A WOMAN who was sexually abused by a ‘monster’ told him he ‘deserves everything that’s coming to him’ as he was locked up for 14 years.

Keith Spence, from Salford, admitted to police officers that he was a ‘f ****** nonce’ as his years of abuse finally caught up with him.

Spence, 75, showed the girl pornography to

‘train’ her in sexual acts to perform on him.

His appalling abuse came to light more recently after he made ‘inappropriate comments’ to another girl. Spence tried to buy that child’s silence by giving her cigarettes.

Now after his depraved abuse was laid bare, Spence was jailed for 14 years and branded as an ‘offender of particular concern.’

The woman who was abused by Spence, now aged in her 30s, said in a statement: “I have been absolutely numb to this for years.

“I had almost forgotten about it, I had blocked it that much.”

Branding him as a ‘monster,’ she added: “This man has made an impact on my life and only now I see the dots all join together.

“It never used to make sense to me. “He deserves everything that’s coming to him.”

Manchester Crown Court heard that she said the abuse started when she was nine, while Spence claimed it began when she was 12, occurring in the late 2000s and early 2010s.

Prosecutor Michael Lavery said that during one of the vile sexual assaults, Spence told her it was ‘a taste of what it would be like for her when she reached 18, and he would take her virginity.’

Another girl reported Spence making inappropriate sexualised comments to her.

The judge said his behaviour went no further in relation to this victim, but said it showed his ‘continued sexual interest in young girls.’

After being arrested in July, Spence told officers: “I know what I’ve done and I don’t want anyone dragging to court for an a ******* like me.”

He also said: “I won’t make it to court, I’m gonna kill myself soon.”

Recorder Mary Loram QC told Spence: “The impact of abuse on children is profound and far reaching.

“It is clearly the case here that her life has been affected deeply by what you did to her, for your own ends.

Spence, of Pevensey Road, Salford, admitted ten offences.

He pleaded guilty to two counts sexual assault of a child under 13, one count of sexually assaulting a child under 13 by penetration, causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, two counts of sexually assaulting a child, one count of sexually assaulting a child by penetration, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and two counts of causing or inciting a child into sexual activity.

Spence will serve two thirds of his sentence in jail, and will have an extra year on licence.

He was ordered to sign the sex offender’s register for life.

His barrister Keith Harrison said: “He has expressed remorse, whether it is accepted by the court or not, he has expressed that.”
