Fund-raiser in memory of tragic Marcus

-

A FUNDRAISER has been set up in memory of a popular teenager who died after being hit by a car.

Marcus Simmons-Allen, 18, died on October 10, following a collision in the Broadheath area of Altrincham.

Connor Matthews, 22, of Portland Road, Stretford, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

A fundraising page has now been set up for the local community in Trafford to pay their respects to Marcus, who was described by his mum Paula as a ‘truly fab son’.

More than £2,700 has been donated in just two days. The money will go towards Marcus’ funeral and memorial, where people will be encouraged to wear red, white or black, or a United shirt, in honour of the teenager’s love for the club.

Organiser Georgia Ford wrote on the page: “Thank you everyone who has expressed their well wishes and asked to give a contribution.

“This page has been set up to give you that opportunity.

“There has been so much love and so many enquiries from you our friends, the local community and extended family members that we are truly overwhelmed.

“As most of you may already know our beautiful Marcus sadly lost his life on the 11th October 2021 in a tragic hit and run.

“Many have asked if they can donate to the family to help give Marcus the funeral/memorial he deserves.

“As a family we are strengthened by the support and condolences and would like to express our gratitude for all of the well wishes, flowers and cards.”

An inquest into Marcus’ death was opened at South Manchester Coroner’s Court last week then adjourned to allow court proceedings to take place.
