Woman dies after she is hit by G-Wagon

POWERFUL MERCEDES SUV CAN COST UP TO £200K

A WOMAN has died after being hit by a Mercedes G-Wagon.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the horror crash on Alan Turing Way, at the junction with Ashton Old Road, just after 9pm on Monday.

A blue Mercedes G63 – or G-Wagon – collided with a pedestrian, police said.

A 38-year-old woman was taken to hospital from the scene but she sadly died a short time later.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing, GMP said.

Police cordoned off a large section of Alan Turing Way after the crash last night.

Several police vehicles were stationed at the scene as well as a number of ambulance vehicles.

Officers from GMP’s Serious Collision Unit were pictured carried out investigat­ion work.

A blue Mercedes G63, which can cost up to £200,000, was pictured behind police tape.

Officers are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Insp Darren Hancock, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigat­ion Unit, said: “This is a tragic incident in which a woman has very sadly lost her life. Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this difficult time.

“This collision happened on a busy road and I am hopeful that there are a number of witnesses who will have seen the collision and may have dashcam footage.

“If you were on this road at the time and saw the car in the lead up to the collison or have any dashcam footage, please get in touch with police as soon as possible.”
