Victim of horror crash outside pub is named
A WOMAN who died in a horror crash outside a pub has been named as Barbara Daniel.
Ms Daniel sadly died at the scene on Haddon Hall Road in Droylsden after a driver, aged in his 70s, lost control of his car and crashed into a group of pedestrians.
Two other women were seriously injured and taken to hospital after the incident around 12.15pm on Thursday.
The driver of the car remained at the scene and assisted police.
No arrests were made, police said.
A file in relation to Ms Daniel’s death has been passed to South Manchester Coroners’ Court, a spokesperson confirmed.
An inquest opening will be held at a later date.
A police cordon was in place outside the Haddon Hall pub after the incident.
A white forensic tent was erected in the car park as several police officers were stationed at the scene.
Pictures also showed the air ambulance landing nearby.
In a statement issued shortly after the incident, a GMP spokesperson said: “A woman has sadly died following a collision on Haddon Hall Road, Droylsden, Manchester.
“Officers were called at around 12.15pm today (21 October) to Haddon Hall Road where it is believed that a man in his 70s lost control of his vehicle and collided with three pedestrians.
“Two further female pedestrians have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“The driver has remained at the scene to assist police with their enquiries. “No arrests have been made.” Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting log number 1383 of 21/10/21.
