Joshua’s fresh jibe as war of words continues

- BOXING BY JOSH CHALLIES

ANTHONY Joshua has issued a fresh jibe directed to Tyson Fury, following an offer from the Gypsy King to train him ahead of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua suffered defeat to the Ukrainian last month, conceding his three heavyweight titles, and is now braced for a rematch in an attempt to win back his belts.

In the aftermath of that defeat, Fury offered his services for the rematch and claimed that Joshua cannot win the bout without his help.

The 2012 Olympic champion has now given his response to those comments, joking it would be the easiest way to get Fury in the ring.

“Yeah lovely mate, [he can train me], if he takes no money for it. I don’t know if he’s after a quid or two,” Joshua told IFL TV.

“He’s more than welcome to come through the doors, he can even spar with me as well. I need a coach that’s lived it, breathed it, so it’ll be perfect. That’ll be the easiest way to get him in the ring.

“I’ll set up a camera, Eddie [Hearn] will be there with a few cameras running it on Facebook or YouTube.

“I’m seeing pictures with Sugar Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Archie Moore, Muhammad Ali, all sitting together, in each others training camps.

lot. Come into my training camp, come and see what the heavyweight champion gets up to. “Tyson can definitely come and watch me train, 100 per cent. Sparring ain’t fighting, so he can definitely come in, he’s more than welcome to step in to the gym and give me some tips.

“I’m not fighting him next anyway so he ain’t got nothing to worry about.”

Meanwhile Paris Fury has stated that her husband Tyson Fury will ‘definitely’ wrestle for WWE again and make a return to the sport. The WBC heavyweight champion previously fought against Braun Strowman in a WWE Crown Jewel pay-per-view event in 2019, winning by count out in Saudi Arabia. Since then, Fury has remained in the boxing ring and most recently overcame Deontay Wilder in a triology bout in Las Vegas.

While boxing remains the focus, with a potential unification bout against Oleksandr Usyk or Anthony Joshua next year, Paris Fury believes he will make a return to WWE.

“He is in touch with Vince McMahon all the time. He loves it. My sons are all big fans of it. For Tyson to do it is kind of like a Disneyland trip, the kids love to go and they meet all the wrestlers,” she told BBC Radio Newcastle.

“To be that cool dad that can give them kids that dream, he does it. I think that’s one of the reasons we’ve come to do this, and obviously being a young man he told me he was a fan of all these wrestlers.

“So he’s definitely probably going to go into that again. I’m sure he will bounce into that WWE ring one of the days.”

Fury has previously stated that Covid has cost him a number of opportunities in WWE, including appearances at Wrestlemania.

“I was supposed to go to SummerSlam last year and I was supposed to go to WrestleMania last year and then I was also supposed to fight Drew McIntyre in a PPV event in the UK, but none of that happened thanks to Covid,” he told Behind The Gloves.

“So Covid’s cost me SummerSlam, Royal Rumble, PPV with Drew McIntyre, the [Deontay] Wilder rematch, and the Joshua fight.

“So thank you Covid.”
