21-YEAR-OLD

TRIBUTES have been paid to an ‘amazing’ new dad who was found dead after a suspected asthma attack.

Lewis Jonas, 21, was found having collapsed near a bridge in Newall Green, Wythenshawe, on Saturday afternoon.

The dad-of-one’s cause of his death is not yet known, but Lewis’s family say they understand he may have died following an asthma attack.

It is the second tragedy to hit the family in just 14 months after his sister passed away in November, last year.

Lewis, who lived with his parents in Wythenshawe, had recently welcomed his baby daughter into the world just five months ago. He was due to turn 22 next month and his sister, Cher Jonas, said he had been trying to look for work.

“Lewis wan amazing person. He was loyal and funny,” Cher said, paying tribute to her little brother.

“You could have a laugh with him. He was polite and well mannered and everyone got on with him like a house on fire.” Cher said her brother suffered from asthma, which the family believe may have contributed to his collapse.

“Lewis had bad asthma and we believe he may have had an asthma attack,” she said.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place, which his family hope will reveal what caused his tragic death.

Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for more information.

Lewis’ sister Kelly, 32, passed away in September 2020 from immune system disorder Sjogren’s syndrome.

“Lewis was really gutted about that, but when he had his daughter his life got brighter,” Cher said.

“But sadly he has lost his life and now his daughter won’t have her dad.”

A fundraising page has been set up by close friends to help Lewis’s family pay for the unexpected cost of a funeral.

Elisha Jane wrote: “Rest in peace Lewis Jonas thank you for the memories, never a day you weren’t smiling.

Lewis’s dad Victor Jonas said: “My son sadly lost his life suddenly. Please help give him the best send-off. We miss him so much, he was a loving, caring lad and is loved by many people. We appreciate every donation that can help.”
