Take Refuge in a great festive line-up

THE Refuge has announced its Christmas programme and is set to host its very own Christmas market every weekend in the lead up to the big day.

Every Friday (5-10pm), Saturday (1-10pm) and Sunday (1-6pm) the terraced at the Oxford Road venue will be covered, heated and transforme­d into a market.

The menu will feature Grandad’s sausage – a spin on the traditiona­l German sausage, Manchester Union Lager Pop-up – serving their award winning lagers alongside freshly baked Bavarian pretzels and Long Bois Bakehouse offering freshly baked goods.

Here’s what’s to come over the next few weeks.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12 Refuge launches a series of events with a showcase of what’s to come over the festive season, including guest DJs, a town crier and a special performanc­e.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 13 Public Bar DJs: Chris Maude + FreakOUT Collective; Sunday, November 14, Public Bar DJ: Dr Sid; Thursday, November 18, Public Bar DJ: Philippa Jarman; Friday, November 19, Public Bar DJs: Abigail Ward + Phil Rose; Saturday, November 20, Public Bar DJs: Ross Roberts + Joy Social; Sunday, November 21, Public Bar DJ: Dr Sid; Thursday, November, 25, Public Bar DJ: Pasta Paul; Friday, November 26, Public Bar DJs: Abigail Ward + Marco Giannini and Saturday, November 27, Public Bar DJs: Neil Diablo + Across The Tracks.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 28

The Refuge Rein-dog Competitio­n returns from 1-3pm with free entry.

This is a fancy dress competitio­n for dogs and a chance to win some special prizes.

The event will take place in the heated, undercover courtyard, and furry friends will be invited to dress up in their fanciest outfits and have a special ‘paw-trait’ – perfect timing for those family Christmas pressies.

EVERY THURSDAY in December Refuge will be holding a Christmas Wreath Making Workshop in collaborat­ion with Giraffe Flowers, the in-house florist at Kimpton Clocktower Hotel.

At £70 per person, it includes all the materials and guidance from experts to make a show stopping Christmas wreath that you can hang proudly on your door, along with a festive cocktail and mince pie.

Spaces are limited to 10 people per class. The workshop starts at 6.30pm and ticket are available here.

A Refuge Christmas Fair: This week’s guest spots for Christmas shopping must-haves come from Top of the Town Vintage, a Stockport-based vintage boutique bringing hand-picked and carefully curated true vintage pieces, Deadstock who offer contempora­ry homewares and accessorie­s, pop-up and Northerner on the Run, who sell a selection of handmade homewares, jewellery and digital artwork.

There will also be The Dog Cake Co offering sweet treats for those four-legged friends including brownies, cupcakes and more and Manchester Union Lager, selling gift boxes filled with a selection of lager cans, a branded glass, enamel badge and Bavarian pretzel, through to mixed cases of cans and merchandis­e. ● Public Bar DJ: Dr Sid

A Refuge Christmas Fair: Christmas shopping goodies will come from HollieGrap­hik, a Manchester-based Etsy best seller creating music-inspired prints, Mariel Osborn, who sell handcrafte­d, unique homewares, Ally Pally Vintage Vs Wardrobe Wellbeing - hand-picked vintage and sustainabl­e garments and Manchester Union Lager. ● Public Bar DJ: Dr Sid 20-22 DECEMBER

Public Bar DJ: DJ Santa There’ll also be an epic line-up of other resident DJs across the festive season.
