Chef’s anger as drunk yobs assault female staff member
THUG CUSTOMER GRABBED BISTRO WORKER AND POURED WINE OVER TABLES AND CHAIRS
A FURIOUS chef has slammed a group of drunken yobs who attacked staff bistro on Saturday night.
Gary Usher – the owner of Hispi Bistro in Didsbury – said a man grabbed a female worker by the neck and kissed her after she had shoved the customer away.
In a video posted online, Gary revealed the group of four louts poured wine all over his restaurant after being told to leave twice.
The chef said they came back and the staff at the restaurant tried to resolve the situation by looking after them. However, the situation took a turn for the worse when one of the group allegedly grabbed a member of staff in an attempt to kiss her.
As the staff member tried to pull away from them, the diner ‘grabbed her by the neck,’ pulled her back and kissed her, he said.
The manager of the restaurant asked them to ‘get out,’ but the group caused a scene, Gary said.
They eventually left the bistro on School Lane, but not before verbally abusing the staff, he added.
They then ‘poured their wine all over the tables and chairs.’
Now, Usher has taken to Twitter to remind guests to ‘be respectful’ to those who work in hospitality, adding that ‘alcohol is not an excuse to be abusive to anyone.’
In a video posted to Twitter, the chef said: “Every time something like this happens where guests are rude and abusive, I have this struggle in my mind that writing about it on social media is unprofessional but you know what, f*** that.
“Because without people constantly saying what goes on, what can happen, then how do people know that can be part of restaurant life?
“Four blokes came into Hispi last night, p ****** out of their f ****** head.
“They were asked to leave in the first place anyway, they came back, we tried to resolve the situation by just trying to look after them.
“They grabbed one of the members of the team in Hispi to kiss her, she pushed away, so he grabbed her by the neck, and pulled her closer, kissed her face.
“The manager went over and said: ‘what the f*** is going on, get out.’
“They caused a scene, they wouldn’t get out.
“They got up after physically assaulting a member of the team and they got their wine and they poured their wine all over the tables and the chairs before they left.
In a tweet thread posted by the restaurant, it said: “An incident happened last night at Hispi and we just want to make everyone aware that assault or abuse of any kind; verbal or physical, will NOT be tolerated at Hispi.
“Drunk or sober, the tolerance is zero.
“It is never appropriate to touch anyone unwarranted and there is no justification for this act.
“After being told to never do it again or they will be asked to leave, it was responded with ‘well we think your attitude is disgusting!.’
“Management will NEVER tolerate their team being made to feel uncomfortable. To then ‘threaten’ with a bad review will only make us want you to leave more.
“The parting words of this specific incident was ‘I don’t have to be pleasant... I’m a customer!.’
“If that’s your attitude towards our team you do not deserve our level of service or to dine at our establishment again.”
Greater Manchester Police said they haven’t been called about the incident.
