A WOMAN was found dead in her flat just 10 months after her partner died.

Lisa Bohm was just 35 when she was discovered dead at her home in Salford Quays, an inquest heard.

Her body had been in the apartment for several weeks before neighbours reported an unpleasant smell in the building.

Her tragic death on June 15 came less than a year after her long-term partner, Luca Sportelli, died unexpectedly.

The 47-year-old had been at home on August 3 last year when he suffered a severe stroke.

It led to him developing a large blood clot on his brain.

Sadly, he was pronounced dead the following day.

An inquest was held into Ms Bohm’s death at Bolton Coroner’s Court yesterday.

It heard how the freelance marketing and IT expert had ‘struggled’ with Luca’s sudden passing and felt ‘anxious’ about how she would cope without him.

A friend and colleague, Irene Seaman, said she last spoke to Ms Bohm via text message in May.

She told the court she sent a further message in June saying she hadn’t heard from her in a while.

She never received a response.

The pair met at the University of Manchester in 2010 where they both studied an Innovation and Entrepreneurship course.

Mrs Seaman, who attended the inquest with her husband, told the court Ms Bohm had been left ‘distraught’ by Luca’s death.

She said the pandemic ‘really affected her mentally’ as she was unable to see her parents in Germany, where she was from.

Giving evidence, Mrs Seaman said: “She was really clever, outgoing and confident. She was a very nice person.”

The court heard how Ms Bohm suffered several health conditions.

These included chronic pain from a slipped disc which led to her using a walking stick.

A post-mortem showed she had died from aspiration pneumonia as a result of drug use.

Police say they are ‘not confident’ her death had been a deliberate attempt to take her own life.

They also believe there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

Coroner Simon Nelson said: “[Lisa] was creative and intelligent – certainly not the type of individual that I had expected to inject methadone.

“But when you go deeper into her history, she had been plagued with chronic pain for many years.”

Mr Nelson recorded a verdict of death by misadventure.
