A NEW EXHIBITION GOES BEHIND THE SCENES ON TOUR WITH GALLAGHER AND HIS HIGH FLYING BIRDS
ANEW exhibition featuring portraits of Noel Gallagher has gone on display in Manchester - offering a glimpse behind the scenes with the rock star.
The works are by acclaimed photographer Sharon Latham, who was formerly the official Manchester City photographer before heading on tour with Oasis star (and Blues fan) Noel.
And former City legends including Micah Richards, Joleon Lescott and Shay Given were among the first to get a viewing when they turned out to support Sharon in the Northern Quarter at the launch of the exhibition which now remains on public display until Sunday.
RedHouse Originals Gallery is hosting the Manchester launch of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds: A New World Blazing; the exhibition offering an exclusive glimpse of life on the road with one of the world’s most successful artists.
This is the first time the full collection of Sharon’s photos will be on public display, with artworks available to view and purchase at the gallery at 11 Police Street, Manchester.
A New World Blazing is a celebration of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, who have just announced a major new summer tour in 2022, from behind the scenes to front of stage, capturing the band at their most dynamic, and their most intimate.
It is the first ever exhibition to document the band and features 50 images captured by Sharon Latham - all fully endorsed by Noel himself.
Burnage-raised Noel said: “Down the years I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the best photographers in the world and I would put Sharon right up there.
“At its best a photograph should speak. What are the pictures saying? They are saying: We NGHFB - have the best job in the world.
“To work, play, travel and party with these people is an absolute pleasure.
“I’m so happy that Big Shaz was there to capture these moments.”
Sharon first came to prominence in 2010 as the first female official Premier League club photographer for Manchester City.
It was their shared passion for football that ignited a friendship with Noel, and led to unprecedented access to the band over a period of five years.
Sharon said: “The first interview that Pep Guardiola ever did was with Noel, and that was my last shoot before I left the club.
“I put my foot in the water and asked to go on a few gigs with Noel on tour and he said ‘Yeah, Shaz - no problem.’
“When the 2016 tour started I asked if I could shoot a couple of gigs, he said ‘Yeah, come to America.’
“I was only supposed to be there for two weeks and it turned into five years.”
The exhibition is open from 10.30am to 6.30pm daily, at RedHouse Gallery Pop Up, 11 Police Street, Manchester M2 7LQ.
