NEW UNITED boss Erik ten Hag has warned Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp that he can end their period of dominance.

Ten Hag has also admitted that he is looking forward to ‘battling’ it out with Pep Guardiola and Klopp in the Premier League.

The Dutchman was speaking at his United unveiling yesterday afternoon.

The Red Devils confirmed the appointment of Ten Hag on a three-year contract with the option of an additional year last month.

United finished 35 points behind champions City, 34 behind Liverpool, and have not won a trophy since Jose Mourinho was in charge. But despite all this, the former Ajax boss believes Liverpool and and City can be toppled. Ten Hag said: “In this moment, I admire them both, Manchester City and Liverpool. They both play really fantastic football. But you will always see an era can come to an end and I am looking forward to battle with them, and I am sure all the other Premier League clubs will want to do that.

“I’ve already met big coaches and big teams in the Premier League and I know how to deal with that. But it’s clear, the Premier League is the biggest league in the world I think and I’m looking forward to battling with them.”

Then when asked if Guardiola and Klopp’s dominance could end with them in situ, Ten Hag replied: “I think, yeah.”

Ten Hag has built up an impressive reputation following his four-and-a-half years at Ajax. He said: “I don’t see it as a risk. I think this club has a great history and now let’s make a future. I’m really excited to do that with the people around who are in the club.

“We bring some new people into the staff, we will analyse the squad and we will go from day-to-day, work hard, 100 percent committed and I am sure we will get success.”
