MIRROR, MIRROR
THESE GADGETS WILL HELP YOU REFLECT ON YOUR EXERCISE REGIME
OF ALL the ways to spend your days, watching yourself working out in a mirror may be among the least appealing. But bear with me.
It might just give you the keys to a new life of optimal fitness.
Fitness mirrors allow you to watch workout videos, and at the same time see yourself performing the moves required – so you can more accurately reproduce the activities being demonstrated.
They can be a bit pricey and all require a regular subscription to an add-on membership to access the workout streams and videos.
But they are essentially offering all the benefits of going to the gym without leaving home. They might work out cheaper than a gym membership eventually, and be much more likely to be used…
VAHA X
■ They say: Training with VAHA allows you to get the most out of your workouts. Find what you need at any time, with live and ondemand classes ranging from five minutes to 60, Beginner to Expert and 10+ fitness genres.
■ Get the guidance and motivation of outstanding coaches, from the comfort of your home.
We offer 1:1 Personal Training sessions that allow you to work with your PT to create the fitness journey that you need!
■ We say: VAHA offers mirrors of two sizes as a portal into its vast array of workouts.
The X is the big one at 43ins, and of course, the most expensive. For £1,195 you can get the smaller S model at 32ins.
As well as being less expensive, the smaller size might make it a better fit for your space.
Either way, VAHA’s offering is all about the variety – there are more than 100 classes streamed live every week as part of the £39/month membership programme.
You get a month for free with the mirror.
■ Cost: VAHA X – £1,950 or from £54/month
IFIT – NORDICTRACK VAULT
■ They say: Open the door and discover Vault, a premier home gym that intimately pairs iFIT interactive training with innovative reflective technology.
Vault’s crisp 60ins oversized mirror provides immediate visual feedback, allowing you to match the form of your iFIT trainer for a better workout.
■ We say: The Vault is the most expensive of the three mirrors previewed here, and that’s because it’s a lot more than just a mirror.
Open the Vault and inside you’ll find a whole range of equipment to help you on your fitness journey – from a yoga mat to dumbbells, from resistance bands to kettlebells, it’s all you need to follow along with iFIT’s interactive training system.
It’s as close to going to the gym without having to go to the gym as you can get.
A subscription to iFIT costs £10/month for individuals (or £108/year), but there is a family plan that offers up to five users access to the workouts for £28/month or £289/year.
One of the advantages is that iFIT works across platforms, so you can use your phone or tablet to access the workouts via an app when you’re away from home and your mirror.
■ Cost: £2,499 or £104/month
ECHELON REFLECT
■ They say: The Echelon Reflect Smart Fitness Mirror is a beautiful touchscreen workout mirror that takes little space, yet delivers a multitude of motivating training methods.
Secure the Reflect Smart Fitness Mirror to a wall using the specially designed bracket for the most space-efficient workouts, or for those with more floor space, the sleek Reflect stand is the perfect addition to any room.
With no app download needed by each user, the easy-to-use, sweat-proof, and Wi-Fi enabled touchscreen display will give the feeling of being fully immersed, and with a wide-range of fitness classes, you can achieve your fitness goals faster. Classes available for all abilities, regardless of individual fitness levels.
■ We say: Echelon’s reflect mirror is the cheapest option here, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t offer a fully-featured fitness universe.
The £39/month subscription offers a giant range of live and ondemand workouts and classes. The system can sync with health monitoring services like Apple Health to help you achieve your goals, too.
■ Cost: £1,599 or £71/month
