Created in 2010 to celebrate all things Mancunian, and after two years away due to the pandemic, Manchester day is back with a bang this June.

The Parade returns to the streets of Manchester for a celebration of togetherness and a dose of good old fashioned fun.

On Sunday, June 19, the Manchester day Parade will weave its way through the city centre in a riot of colour, sound and spectacle.

Now, you can be a part of the special day, by volunteering to help bring the streets alive. With this year’s theme being ‘Our Year’, a year long celebration of children and young people across the city, Manchester City Council have collaborated with youth and community groups across

Manchester, along with outdoor arts specialists, Walk the Plank.

From special pop up events celebrating all things Mancunian and live entertainment, to free family activities, youth markets and street food, there is something for everyone to enjoy on Manchester day.

How do I volunteer to Help tHe celebratIons?

You could help make Manchester day this June a day to remember, as Manchester City Council are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic volunteers to help make sure the big day runs smoothly. From setting up the parade and assisting visitors, to working with the creatives behind the scenes and supporting participants, there are opportunities for everyone at this year’s parade.

The Council are looking for: Way-finding Volunteers, Participant Support Volunteers and Creative Volunteers to help ensure the parade runs without a hitch and that everyone has a brilliant time.

If you choose to volunteer, you will have a wide range of responsibilities positioned all around the city and will be assisted by a team Leader, who’ll be available to help them throughout the day.

Before the special day on Sunday June 19, volunteers can dedicate as much time as they want, from a few hours to a few weeks and the experience will give you the opportunity to work with established carnival artists with a hands-on involvement in creating the Manchester day spectacle.

applications are only open until tuesday, May 31, so get applying quick so as not to miss out on the opportunity to help out at one of Manchester’s biggest celebrations of the year.
