Clubber ‘knocked out by bouncer’
‘PARTIES INVOLVED INSTANTLY DISMISSED’ ACCORDING TO BOSSES
A REVELLER claims he was left with a broken nose and bruises after an incident involving bouncers outside a nightclub in the Gay Village.
Dan, 20, who asked for his surname not to be published, shared photos of his injuries with the M.E.N. but requested they weren’t reproduced.
Dan claims he was attacked outside Bloom in the early hours of Friday, June 4. Greater Manchester Police said the incident was reported and that an investigation is ongoing.
In a statement, Bloom apologised on behalf of the security company it uses and offered ‘deepest apologies to the people involved.’ A spokesperson said those involved were ‘instantly dismissed.’ Dan told the M.E.N.: “At some point at around 4am, I was in the smoking area outside.
“My memory of what happened isn’t complete, but I remember getting into a heated discussion with someone, who pushed me backwards. After that, a group of bouncers just grabbed me and slammed me down onto the floor.
“I hit my head badly and was told by one of my friends a bouncer was repeatedly hitting me. I thought it only lasted a few seconds, but I was knocked out completely. When I got back up, I was taken into a back room with my friend and a staff member.
“My mum picked me up and we went straight to A&E. I was given CT scans, and I went into a shock. I was just so dazed and disorientated by it all. I was told I had a broken nose in two places and it was bleeding on and off for two days. My face is absolutely covered in black and yellow bruises all over and my head is covered in lumps.”
In a statement, a spokesperson for Bloom said: “We apologise on behalf of our external security company and offer our deepest apologies to the people involved. The incident that happened outside our venue does not reflect who we are as people or what Bloom Nightclub represents. The security team are fully co-operating with the investigation into the incident with the parties involved being instantly dismissed. We are working closely with the security company and Manchester City Council to make sure that the venue continues to be a safe space for people in our community. We have been in constant contact with the victim’s mother and we offer both the victim and their family any support.”
