Reds confident they can keep Garnacho
UNited are confident of reaching an agreement with Alejandro Garnacho as talks continue over a new contract following his impressive breakthrough season.
the 17-year-old is set to receive a new deal which will reflect his growing stature at the club on the back of a campaign in which he guided the Reds to victory in the Youth Cup and made his first-team debut.
Garnacho also received a call-up to the Argentine national side and is now considered a potential wildcard selection for their World Cup squad.
M.e.N. Sport understands talks are progressing well over a new contract, with United keen to reward their latest academy star.
Garnacho only signed his first professional contract when he turned 17 last July by penning a deal until 2025, despite recent reports wrongly suggesting he was out of contract next year. United sources admit they are not surprised at all by the significant level of interest being shown in the teenager, given how well he has done in recent months, with Juventus the latest club linked with the teenager. Garnacho joined the Reds from Atletico Madrid for £420,000 in 2020, as part of a recruitment drive which saw the club sign three top players from Spain. Marc Jurado joined from Barcelona and Alvaro Fernandez from Real Madrid.
Garnacho, who represented Spain at youth level but qualifies for Argentina through his mother, turned down an offer from Borussia dortmund to join United. the winger is expected to be part of erik ten Hag’s pre-season tour squad this summer.
Garnacho was named United’s Under-18 Player of the Year last month, following in the footsteps of Anthony elanga, Marcus Rashford and Angel Gomes.
