OUR popular nostalgia quiz this week remembers all the Manchester bands who appeared on fast-moving pop show Ready Steady Go! Presented by Cathy McGowan, Ready Steady Go! was ATV’s answer to the establishe­d BBC music programme Top of the Pops.

Its compact TV studio in London’s Kingsway became a second home for Manchester Beat bands from August 1963 to December 1966.

Guests included the Hollies, Georgie Fame, the Dakotas, Freddie and the Dreamers, Herman’s Hermits and even George Best!
