OUR popular nostalgia quiz this week remembers all the Manchester bands who appeared on fast-moving pop show Ready Steady Go! Presented by Cathy McGowan, Ready Steady Go! was ATV’s answer to the established BBC music programme Top of the Pops.
Its compact TV studio in London’s Kingsway became a second home for Manchester Beat bands from August 1963 to December 1966.
Guests included the Hollies, Georgie Fame, the Dakotas, Freddie and the Dreamers, Herman’s Hermits and even George Best!
